Dear Lara,
I wish to thank you for your time and kind assistance in this matter. I know Julie of UNIFEM PNG and will contact her accordingly. I think she is aware of the interest in this area and currently facilitating women to attend international events happening in this area but not really undertaking any activity directly promoting it. Anyway, I will get in touch with her for current happenings. The information you have provided really assisted me in what I was doing and when I go back to PNG, I will make sure I share with the women what I have learnt and if possible we would initiate activities within this area.
I thank you once again for you assistance.
Best Regards
Wallis

Dear Wallis
Courtney forwarded me your email on information gender response budgeting particularly for PNG.
UNIFEM internationally has done some significant work on gender response budgeting. They have several materials on the issue which can be found at http://www.gender-budgets.org/ including some materials particularly on the Pacific.
It might also be worth contacting our Pacific office who do the on-the-ground programs which we support here in Australia to ask them specific information. They have an office in PNG if that would help. Their Programme Officer is Julie Bukikun, her email address is julie.bukikun@unifem.org
My apologies for not getting back to you sooner.
Kindest regards
Lara Jacques
Policy Officer

Dear Courtney,
Thank you very much for your quick response to my email seeking information. I know that what you have provided in terms of the links or websites is sufficient, as it would assist me to understand a practical scenario of what your organisation has been doing in promoting the voice of women. However, my only other minor query would be relating to more hands on information regarding experiences of how you run or coordinate these programs, in terms of building your stakeholder, influence them to support your views and maintain these partnerships. The challenges being encountered in undertaking such. This would be a bonus for me and others in PNG in initiating such because promoting concepts like gender responsive budgeting in PNG is like sailing through unknown waters and will be difficult. Therefore, if it is OK, I would be grateful if I could briefly come and meet with one of your officers at your convenience.
I thank you once again for your support and time in this matter.
Regards
Wallis

Subject: Seeking information
Dear Sir/Madam,
This email message is to seek information on the programs you undertake in promoting quality of life for women in the region. I am a Postgraduate (Master of goverance & Public Policy) student at the University of QLD from Papua New Guinea (PNG). As part of a community engagement and governance course, we were asked to identify and initiate a community development project. I have been with women's network fighting against violence against women in PNG before I took up postgraduate studies and I have seen a significant need in the areas of promoting and advocating for gender responsive budgeting. Hence, I have selected this as my community project and am now seeking information from a number of organisations in Brisbane undertaking similar activities in order for it to form the basis for stimulating initial discussions back in PNG. As UNIFEM is the main driver of gender advocacy internationally, I am interested in seeking information on activities your office is running that is relevant to promoting gender budgeting. I would be very grateful for your assistance and also would appreciate it if I can come and briefly meet with anyone of your officers at your convenience.
I thank you once again for your time and support and looking forward to hearing from you.
Best Regards
Wallis Yakam
